V-day Party Day!

Meg was so excited about her v-day party at school this year. It was adorable to watch her getting dressed for school in such a hurry. Usually, Meg eats breakfast at the house, but not last Friday. She was in too big of a hurry to get to school for Valentine's day. I could hardly get her to agree to stand still so I could take a picture.

***Meg being as goofy as always*** ***My sweet Valentine***
Of course, Meg had a blast at school on Friday with her friends. On our way home, she was talking to meme...their conversation went something like this:
Meme: Did you have a good time at your valentine's day party?
Meg: I gave myself two Valentine's.
Meme: Did you get any Valentine's from your boyfriends?
Meg: (in a completely offended tone) Meme, I don't have any boyfriends at school, Layton is my boyfriend!"
So sweet, she's so dedicated to Layton :) Poor Layton.

It's nice.....but

Meg had spent a few nights with Boompaw and Nawnaw, so yesterday I met Nawnaw to get Megan. We ended up meeting in a McDonald's parking lot. As you can imagine, my sweet little angel wanted to go in and eat. Well, I wasn't exactly dressed for eating in public (I had my house shoes on). So, I had to pick her up kicking and screaming, put her in her car seat and strap her in. She cried and cried and cried. She's usually pretty tired after spending time with Boompaw and Nawnaw, so I was just going to let her cry it out.

When I couldn't stand it any more, I mentioned to Meg that I had a surprise for her at home...

...fast forward to the minute we arrive home.

Meg: Can I have my surprise?
Mommy: As soon as I get you unstrapped and we get inside.
Meg: Go faster.
Mommy: I'm trying
(enter house)
Meg: Where is my surprise?
Mommy: Here it is...
Meg has this look of total disappointment on her face...
Mommy: What's wrong? Do you not like it?
Meg gives me a blank stare
Mommy: Honey? Do you like it?
Meg: It's fine.
Mommy: I can return it if you don't like it.
Meg: It's fine...I just thought you were going to give me a puppy.

I can understand her disappointment - if I thought I was getting a puppy and my mom gave me a stupid hello kitty Halloween basket, I would have been crushed! The basket is cute though :)

But, seriously - A PUPPY???? Why would she think she was getting a puppy? She's out of her mind.

p.s. to the grandparents reading this - this is not code for "buy Meg a puppy for Christmas (or any other holiday...or, for that matter a puppy at all)"

Thank you, Officer!

On Wednesday, Meg and I had to run up to Radio Shack to buy a wireless phone jack because directv was coming out to install a DVR. I thought they were coming on Friday, but nope, I was wrong. So, I loaded Meg up into the car and off we went.

Imagine my shock when I look in the rear-view mirror and see a cop. It's like he knows I've just looked up because he immediately turns on his lights. I am at a stop sign, so I pull thru the intersection and pull over to the side of the road. He proceeds to give me a ticket for speeding...

I write all of this as a preface to the story I'm about to tell.

Last night, we were at my SIL's for my MIL's birthday celebration. Well, cute little Meg has this conversation with everyone at the party...

Meg: My mommy got to meet a police officer.
Audience: Really?
Meg: Yes. He pulled her over because she was speeding.
Audience: That's not good.
Meg: I know. But, my mom got signed up.
Audience: Laughter.

Meg thinks I signed up when I was signing the ticket. What she thinks I signed up for is beyond me. Maybe I'm going to the officer's ball...do they really have those?

One time at band camp

Meg has been talking a mile a minute...so, every time she starts to tell us a story (which, by the way, don't really have endings - she just talks and talks and talks and talks and talks) Jarrad will say "One time at band camp". If you've seen American Pie, you know what he's talking about.

Last night, when I was putting Meg to sleep, she actually started her story with "one time at band camp"...then, proceeded to tell me something about bears in our backyard that we were going to have to hunt. I'm not sure what she was talking about because it didn't make any sense, but I guess when you're a 3 year old it doesn't have too. She seemed to know what she was talking about and that is all that matters.

Moral of the story is that if you don't want your child repeating quotes from R-rated movies, then watch what you say. I can only imagine what she is saying at day care right now

Jarrad: We don't say shit, do we?
Meg: No, we say Oh My Gosh.
Me: We don't say stupid, do we?
Meg: No, we say Oh My Gosh.
Me: We don't say bitch, do we?
Meg: No....yes, we say bitch.

Lesson learned...don't encourage my daughter to be cute. Her answer to everything is usually, we don't say [insert any word here], we say Oh My Gosh.

Or, as it turns out today, in the car. The conversation between myself and Meg went like this...Let me preference this with a little piece of information. When Meg's allergies act up, she gets itchy, watery eyes...

Mommy: Are your eyes bothering you?
Megan: Yes.
Mommy: We'll put eye drops in when we get home.
Megan: No, I need new eyes.
Mommy: What?!?
Megan: I need new eyes...I want blue eyes, like my fadder (father).

I didn't have the heart to tell her that she's stuff with those big, beautiful brown eyes for the rest of her life.

From time to time, I will post more on "stuff heard round the house".
