2010 World Series

DISCLAIMER – COMPLETE PICTURE OVERLOAD
(and, this isn’t even 10% of the pictures I took)

Last night, we had the opportunity of a lifetime!  We were taken to the World Series!  Luke and Patty got tickets to Game 5 of the 2010 World Series.  The game didn’t turn out how we had hoped, but we were still able to witness a deciding game for the World Series!

Luke and Patty pulled out all the stops for the game!  We all met at their house before the game and rode together in a party bus that they had rented for the game.  The ride was so much fun.

There were 12 of us in total!  Luke and Patty; Megan, Jarrad and Me; Stacy and Bryan; Albert and Barbara; Nick and Michelle; and Tommy (a family friend’s son).  We had amazing seats and got the the game early enough to see a little batting practice, have some nachos and take lots of pictures!

I don’t think I will ever be able to explain the atmosphere at the Ballpark last night.  I will never be able to explain how I felt walking into the Ballpark knowing that the game we were about to witness could be the final game of the 2010 World Series.

The Rangers fans had high hopes that we would win this game and send the series back to San Francisco.  Unfortunately, Game 5 wasn’t good to the Rangers, and the 2010 World Series was decided on November 1, 2010 at the Ballpark in Arlington.

Even though the Rangers didn’t win the World Series, the season was amazing.  Meg and I only made it to two regular season games this past year.  I have a feeling we’ll be going to a lot more next season.

I’m definitely sad that the season is over!  However, I look forward to next year’s season and all that it will be.  I hope that we will go to a lot more games next season than we did this year!

Thank you Rangers for an AMAZING season!  Enjoy the offseason and get ready for April 1, 2011!

Snow White with Nawnaw

Nawnaw took Megan and I to see Snow White on Sunday afternoon at Casa Manana in Ft. Worth.  The performance started at 2:00, so we had a quick lunch at Baker Brothers before the show.

Before the show started, Meg spotted Hailey in the crowd.  Hailey was there with her grandma.  The show was amazing, a little loud at times, but still absolutely amazing.  After the show, we stood in line to get our program signed by Snow White, Prince Sebastian and the wicked Step-Mother.

Meg’s 6th Birthday Party

Saturday night, we celebrated Meg’s sixth birthday with friends and family.  Meme, Poppy, Big Unk, Auntie Ruthie & Luke all came in from San Antonio to spend the weekend with us and help celebrate.

We blew up the bounce house in the backyard, opened the sand box and the kids had a blast.  For once, I didn’t take tons of pictures – sometimes I feel like I’m missing out because I’m living my life thru my lens.  I did snap some pictures of her opening gifts and blowing out candles.  We served beef and chicken fajitas with bad ass beans and all the fixings.  The night was perfect.

I still can’t believe my baby is SIX!

Labor Day - Party

Meme & Poppy had a party Labor Day weekend at the house.  It was a GREAT party.  Everyone visited, we ate AMAZING bar-b-q, swam, laid out and pitched washers.  Meg was so excited that some of the guys swam with her – they let her climb all over them.

Tuffy is one of mom and dad’s oldest friends.  Dad and Tuffy went to High School together.  I have so many childhood memories with Tuffy in them.  Watching Meg and him play in the pool brought back so many of those memories.  Tuffy was always willing to get in the lake with us when we were little kids to let us stand on his shoulders or to throw us.  I’m so thankful that Meg will have memories with him too.

The weekend in San Antonio was perfect.  We all had a GREAT time.

Labor Day Weekend – Parade

I think this is the first time since Jarrad and I have been together that we didn’t go out to the ranch for some dove hunting.  Unfortunately, Jarrad had to work and couldn’t get the weekend off, so Meg & I headed to San Antonio for the weekend.

We drove down on Friday afternoon after Meg got out of school.  Saturday morning, Meg and I headed to Boerne to go to the Kendall County Parade with our favorite friends, The Middletons.  We spent most of the day with them, before heading back to Meme & Poppy’s house for the evening.  Layton had a birthday party for a friend, so Maddie came back with Meg & me to the house.  Jamie, Lath & Layton joined us later for dinner.

Megan and Maddie had so much fun playing at the house.  They both love the movie Avatar, so they played Avatar most of the afternoon.  Maddie had even made them some bows for “hunting”.  The ran thru the creek bottom and in the woods for hours.  A little later, they fished for tadpoles in dad’s pond.  After fishing, they swam for a little while.

Go Rangers!

The same day as Meg’s field day, we had tickets to the Rangers game.  This was Meg’s second game.  Her first game, she wasn’t even one yet and slept through most of it.  Jarrad, Meg and I left for the game around 5:00.

As we were walking into the park, I was letting them search my purse and I looked over to see Jarrad handing his knife over.  Apparently, you can’t have knives in the park, so Jarrad had three options; 1) throw it away, 2) put it in the lost & found box and hope it’s still there after the game or 3) take it back to the truck.  He chose option 3.

So, while Jarrad was taking his knife back to the truck, Meg and I went into the ball park.  We walked right into the kid play area and I knew I wasn’t going to be able to get around her playing.  I gave her five bucks and said that was all.  She did four games and loved every minute of it.  IMG_1436 IMG_1442 IMG_1451

It was Dollar Dog night, so we all had hot dogs for dinner.  We grabbed a table and had hot dogs, French fries and diet cokes.  It was a perfect ball park dinner.  IMG_1460 IMG_1461

After diner, we headed to our seats.  They were actually very good seats.  I have to mention that our seats were free because we got tickets in our six flags coupon book.  My only complaint is that they were in the sun, but since it was a night game, that wasn’t a problem for long.

However, because of the sun, Meg convinced daddy that she needed a hat.  He’s such a softie, but I have to say that she looked adorable in her hat.

It seems that we never have any pictures of Jarrad and me, so I had Meg snap this one.  It’s the best of the bunch.  One had Jarrad’s face cut off and the other one is out of focus.  It’s not the best picture I’ve ever seen of us, but it’s good enough :)

At first, Meg didn’t want to sit down.  She also kept cheering for the “Horsies”.  I was finally able to figure out what – the Ranger’s mascot is dressed in a horse costume with a Ranger’s uniform on.  After we got that straighten out, all was right in the cheering section.

By the 7th inning, Meg had really gotten into the game.  She was screaming at the top of her lungs and starting cheers.  She and a guy that was sitting across the aisle from us were chanting back and forth “Go Rangers Go”.

IMG_1538 IMG_1539 IMG_1553 IMG_1556

We left right after the 8th inning.  Meg was starting to get restless, so we decided to head out.  She loved every minute of the game and wants to go back again.
