Merry Thanks-mas!

While we were in San Antonio for the Thanksgiving week, we celebrated Christmas with my parents, brothers, sisters-in-law and nephew.  The year that Jarrad and I got married, we started spending every other Thanksgiving and Christmas with my family – alternating the years from Thanksgiving to Christmas.  It has worked out perfectly!

Thursday morning, we opened gifts after Kyle got to the house from working around 11:30am.  We usually take turns opening gifts, but this year was more of a free for all.  I don’t think I even saw Meg open all her gifts.

Everyone was completely spoiled (again) and had a great Christmas.

We had an amazing week!  I was sad when it was time to pack the car up and head back to Mansfield.  But, I start a new job on Monday and Meg starts a new before and after school program.  We needed to get home so we could get settled back in for the changes we are about to face.

Our second Thanksgiving

On Thanksgiving day, we headed over to Nina's house. As usual, she cooked entirely too much. But, everything was wonderful. After our meal, Megan and I headed out for a walk thru Nina's neighborhood.

The day was beautiful, so I took my camera along for the walk. Thankfully, she was a willing subject for most of the walk.

After our walk, Meg and Nina played a few hands of Go Fish (or, "Go Fishing" as Meg calls it). Meg was so excited that Nina taught her how to play. We also looked thru a few of the black Friday ads and visited.

1 of 2 Thanksgivings

Two weekends before Thanksgiving, we celebrated Thanksgiving with Boompaw & Nawnaw. The weather was beautiful most of the day. We had a few late afternoon showers, but the morning was great. It was warm enough for shorts and a tank top for Megan.

Jarrad, Megan and I got over to their house around 11:00 to help finish getting everything ready for Thanksgiving. We did a pot luck type of Thanksgiving this year. Every year, Patty spends all her time in kitchen, so this year we made a change. Everyone brought a dish. It worked out perfectly. I think we may have started a new family tradition.

On our way home, the sun was red...this picture doesn't do it justice. It was so beautiful.

Merry Thanksgiving!

Merry Thanksgiving? I know you're probably thinking I've lost my mind, but here is the story. After I got married, I started spending every other Christmas & Thanksgiving with my family. So, one year we're with my side of the family in SA for Thanksgiving and then we're in DFW for Christmas with my in-laws. The following year, we flip and spend Thanksgiving with my in-laws and Christmas with my family.

While we're spending Thanksgiving with my family, we also celebrate Christmas...which leads me to Merry Thanksgiving :) We had a wonderful time celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas with my family this year. Meg, of course, was spoiled rotten by her grandparents, aunts and uncles.

We got up first thing on Thanksgiving day to let Meg see if Santa brought her anything...surprise, he did. Meg was very excited to see that Santa knew we were celebrating Christmas early with my side of the family and that he knew she was in San Antonio at meme & poppy's house.
Santa brought Megan a baby that is potty training and an ironing board. Two things that she asked for and was super excited to receive. When she walked into the living room, she just sat down in front of her new toys and looked at them - she wasn't sure if the gifts were for her or not. It was so adorable.

Please forgive me for a lack of details...I can't remember what I did yesterday, much less the details from over a month ago.
