Frisbee

While Meg and I were shopping one day, she asked if I would buy her a Frisbee.  Since, the Frisbee was only a dollar, I agreed…only if she was a good girl for the rest of the shopping trip :)  I’m definitely not above bribing Meg when we’re having “one of those days” grocery shopping.

That night, Meg and her daddy went out into the backyard for a lesson.  I grabbed my camera and we headed outside.  Meg is a lefty, and dad taught her to throw with her right hand.  It was very frustrating for her, so eventually I had to point out that he needed to show her with her left had.  After that, she had a couple good throws.

Once she got tired of throwing the Frisbee, Jarrad played fetch with her.  Yes, fetch.  Jarrad would throw it across the yard and she would bring it back to him.

Loving the weather!

We are loving the spring weather.  We plan to spend as much time outside enjoying the weather as possible.  Meg has learned how to jump out of the swing and is super proud of herself.  Backyard Apr 5_001Backyard Apr 5_003Backyard Apr 5_019 Backyard Apr 5_020 Backyard Apr 5_021

Spring Break part 5

Thursday afternoon, Megan and I met Nawnaw in Grapevine to enjoy the beautiful weather.  We ate outside and just walked from shop to shop.  IMG_8939

That night was so beautiful that we decided to open up a bottle of wine and head to the backyard.  Some of my favorite memories are sitting on the back porch watching Megan play and swing on her swing set while the dogs run around.

My little monkey

Meg has never been a big climber. The heights of her climbing started and stopped at climbing onto the couches. I never had to worry about her climbing up on the counters, tables, bathroom sinks, etc. She was perfect content just staying close to the ground...

Well, a switch has flipped and this girl is into climbing everything. I was able to snap a few pictures of her climbing around on her play set. She loves hanging upside down from that bar (which, makes me super nervous).

She's even mastered climbing the monkey bars so she can sit and swing on the swing bar. I'm so proud of her for trying things that she was very scared of doing before, but this can only mean one thing...my little girl is growing up. And, there isn't anything that she will let get in her way!

After a long evening of monkeying around, she had to take a rest. I couldn't resist snapping this picture. She looks so grown up!

Are you ok?

A few nights ago, Jarrad and I were sitting on the back patio enjoying some adult conversation, when right in the middle of a sentence, I heard the loudest snapping noise I have ever heard...next thing I know, Jarrad is on his back. The chair he was sitting in broke off it's base!!!

After I made sure that Jarrad was OK, we couldn't help but laugh about it. Lowe's was great about me returning the chair - they replaced it with no questions asked. Of course, they did ask what happened ;)

About time...

The weather has been so weird this year...Meg and I have been looking forward to it warming up and it finally has! One of our favorite things to do on Saturdays is have water balloon fights in the back yard. When I'm filling up the balloons, she likes me to make a few "small" balloons, so they won't break the first time they're thrown. They bounce around on the patio like small balls and she giggles with delight while chasing them down. Dixie also loves this time of year. It means that Meg will be playing with the water hose. Dixie can't get enough of the water. We played for well over an hour out back on Saturday. Please let all our weekends be this beautiful. Meg and I love it.

Meet Lucy

I know what you're thinking....why would you get another dog. Well, we just couldn't resist that face. She's super sweet and Meg loves her. But, seriously - she's not ours. She lives at the house next door and is always coming under our fence to play with Dixie, Ace, & Meg. Our neighbors have tried everything to keep her out of our yard, but nothing works. She always finds a way.

So far, our neighbors have tried:

  1. bricks
  2. electric fence
  3. a board nailed to the bottom of the fence

Nothing can keep Lucy out of our yard. We don't mind - except when our neighbors are no where to be found and we have to break into the backyard to return her.

Did you catch anything?

Jarrad bought Meg a new Disney Princess fishing pole at Cabela's on Sunday. She loves playing with it in the backyard. She's learning how to cast and should be a pro soon.

I was so proud of her last night at swimming lessons...she floated on her back all by herself. It was such an amazing thing to watch. She also swam 10 feet from the edge of the pool to an "island" in the middle of the pool. I'm really glad that we kept her in swimming lessons this summer and are continuing them this fall/winter.
