Hotter than hell

Saturday, Meg and I met our good friends Laura & Lauren at the Ft. Worth Zoo for a hot (but fabulous) afternoon. The zoo wasn't very crowded probably because it was 100 degrees, but we had a great time. We saw most of the animals. We rode the train twice and the girls rode the carousel.

Early in July, Meg spent five days with my parents. Mom sent me the below pictures...my child can be so goofy.

Meme and Megan were polishing the silver, so they were wearing gloves. Meg decided that she needed a pair for her feet too. I don't know where she comes up with her wacky ideas...but I love her for them!

Breckenridge (Part 2)

After a wonderful Saturday night with friends and family, it was work time at the ranch. Jarrad needed to get the feeders filled before deer season starts this year. It actually worked out that we could go to the party and get some work done.

This was Gunner's first ranch trip, so he had to learn a hard lesson. We always take the dogs out with us when we go to fill feeders. Dixie and Ace have always rode in the bed of the mule, so Gunner wasn't going to be treated any differently.

Well, as you can imagine, Gunner jumped out of the bed as soon as we started going. So, we made him run along side for a while (we did it to Ace too the first few times). I thought he would learn, but nope. As soon as Jarrad put him back in the bed, he popped right back out.

Meg volunteered to ride back there with him to hold him in until he got used to it. That did the trick. She did so good at "training" Gunner to stay in the bed of the mule. She was so proud of herself.

A quick trip to Breckenridge, TX (Part 1)

On Saturday, Jarrad and I loaded up the kids and headed out to Breckenridge for a party at a family friend's house. Meg, Dixie & Gunner climbed into the back of the truck and were ready to go. Dixie knew where we were going - anytime we put the Mule on the trailer, she gets super excited because she knows it means we're heading out to the ranch.

I was super bored in the car, so was taking very random pictures the whole ride. I'm sure it drove Jarrad crazy to have the camera going off every five seconds, but I was having fun :)

When we started the drive, the skies were a beautiful blue. However, the closer we got to Breckenridge, the darker the skies got. When I checked the radar, I saw what we were in for.

Once we got to the ranch, we unloaded the truck and got ready for the party at the Broyles house. Jarrad had to run to Eastland before we went, which gave me plenty of time to get showered and ready. He got back to the ranch house around 5 and we headed out.

How can it be?

Last week, I took Megan to Staples to shop for school supplies {gasp}. How have five years already come and gone? Why has time gone by so fast? Five years ago, I was preparing the nursery for her arrival and last week I took her shopping for school supplies. I'm not sure I'm ready for kindergarten, but I guess it doesn't matter if I'm ready or not.

Meg had a great time shopping for her school supplies. Of course, she wanted to put everything in the buggy. I'm not sure she understood that she had to shop from a list. There aren't many pictures from the actually shopping experience because Staples was running on their back up generator, so it was dark (and hot) inside.
