Remember when…

…you were a child and couldn’t wait for the first warm day of the swim season?  IMG_8177 copy

Just the thought of a warm enough day to allow you to go for a dip?  IMG_8178 copy

The day didn’t even have to be  THAT warm, but just warm enough.  IMG_8180 copy

I remember dipping my toes in and thinking, it’s not that cold…IMG_8195 copy

Today, was one of those days for Megan…IMG_8201 copy

…she thought Meme & Poppy’s pool was warm enough for a swim.  IMG_8202 copy

I decided to let her put on a swim suit and give it a try…IMG_8217 copy

…what do you think?

Was it warm enough for a swim?

Weekend in Vegas

Last weekend, Jarrad and I met up with 5 other couples in Vegas for Taylor’s 30th birthday.  Ruth had planned a surprise weekend get-a-way for Taylor.  Taylor had no idea that Ruth was planning the weekend in Vegas for him.  Last Wednesday night, she told him that they were going to Vegas on Friday morning.

Ruth only told Taylor that they were going to Vegas, not that 5 other couples would be meeting them at various stops along the way to join them for the weekend.  Beth, Jeff, Paul & Sarah met them at the airport on Friday morning.  Jarrad, me, Grace, Paduka and Ryan met him at the hotel once they had landed in Vegas.  He was so surprised.  We all stayed at Caesars Palace.

IMG_7878We had an amazing weekend.  Since we got in first thing in the morning on Friday, some of the boys played golf that afternoon and the rest of us shopped or gambled :)

Friday night was pretty low key since we were planning on going out Saturday night.  So, Jarrad and I decided to go to dinner just the two of us that evening.

Saturday morning, Jarrad and I were up bright and early because we were still on Texas time.  We got up, had some breakfast, then got ready for the day…all before 8:00 Vegas time.  Since we were the only two awake from our group, we walked around a little on our own.

We  walked thru Caesars Forums.  Since it was so early, the shops were open.  I was able to take tons of great pictures.

After we walked thru the shops at the Forum, we headed over to the Bellagio.  It was absolutely amazing.   Jarrad and I walked out the front door of the hotel to walk to the fountains.  The Paris is directly across the strip from the Bellagio.

IMG_7867Around 11:00, we called the group to see if they were moving around yet.  They were heading to breakfast.  So, we headed back over to Caesars to meet up with them.

As a group, we decided to go walk down the strip.  We headed out and went back thru the Bellagio.   We got there just in time because we were able to catch the fountain show.  It was amazing to watch.  My pictures definitely don’t do it any justice.

Inside the lobby of the Bellagio, there are beautiful glass flowers hanging from the ceiling.  It’s absolutely breath taking.  The colors of the flowers are amazing.  IMG_7965

That evening, we met for dinner at Neros in Caesars Palace to celebrate Taylor’s 30th birthday.  Dinner was delicious and we had a great time.  It was fun to sit down and visit with everyone.

After dinner, we headed over to the Shadow Bar to finish celebrating the night.  I don’t think I have ever laughed as much as I did that night.

I’m so glad that we were able to make it to Vegas to help Taylor celebrate.

I’m a Bus Rider

IMG_7648A few weeks ago, three little girls moved into the house across the street from us.  One of the girls is in Kindergarten just like Megan.  They have become fast friends.
Well, this little girl is a bus rider, so Meg asked if she could ride the bus too.  I hated to say yes, but couldn’t say no.  She was so excited about the thought of riding the bus that she was thrilled at just the thought.  So, as my heart was breaking into a million pieces, I told her I would talk to her teacher and that she could start riding the bus.IMG_7654
Last Thursday was the “BIG” day.  I dropped her off at school and asked her again if she was sure she wanted to ride the bus.  She answered with a very enthusiastic YES.
As the afternoon went on, I was anxious and nervous and excited all at the same time.  I knew she would be fine.  Her friend has an older sister and I knew that Meg would be taken care of.  Still, I was sadden a little by the fact that this is just more proof that my baby girl is growing up whether I am ready or not.
Of course, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to see her as she climbed off the bus.  This being the first time, I was armed with my camera and ready to capture this milestone.
IMG_7672Secretly, I was hoping that she was going to have a bad experience and would want me to pick her up like before.   Don’t get me wrong, I never want Megan to be sad or have bad experiences, but I loved picking her up every day from school.
Of course, she had a great experience and immediately told me that she wanted to be a permanent bus rider.
So, my little girl isn’t so little any more.  She’s happy to be a bus rider and understands that there will be days that she will have to be picked up, but she’s ok with that.
Monday, her third day riding the bus, we had a little problem.  The other girls that get off at her stop weren’t on the bus.  It was cold and rainy, so I was waiting outside for her with an umbrella.  As I heard the bus approach, my heart fluttered.  I was so excited that Megan was home.  IMG_7668
Imagine my disbelief when the driver slows down, starts to raise his stop sign, then speeds off again.  My heart dropped into the pit of my stomach.  I jumped in my car and chased the bus down.
Thankfully, there was a little girl on the bus that noticed that Megan had missed her stop and told the bus driver.  He had already turned around and was dropping her off by the time I caught back up with them.
Meg was so upset, partially because I had closed the garage, so it looked like I wasn’t home and because it had scared her a little.
Meg is a strong willed girl and didn’t let this little incident bother her at all.  She still wants to be a permanent bus rider.

Ponder Panther

I picked Meg up a few days ago and she was so excited to show me her Ponder Panther.  She won this for her sales for Jump Rope for Heart.  She was so proud of herself.  She told me that her name was called over the morning announcements and Mrs. Kelly sent her to the office to collect her prize.

I’m so proud of her!   IMG_7340 IMG_7346 IMG_7348 IMG_7365

Quad Play Date

Last Saturday we had a play date with Meg’s friends from swimming.  It’s been a struggle for us to get a good picture of all four of these kiddos.  Here is the best  yet!
