Jarrad's Buck

Jarrad headed out to the ranch for opening weekend of bow hunting. Meg and I weren't able to go along because we had her soccer games that weekend. Jarrad left out on Friday afternoon and came home Sunday. On Saturday morning, he called to let us know that he shot two hogs, but didn't see any deer. He said he was going to go back out on Saturday afternoon, to hopefully shoot "the big one".

When Jarrad is out there alone, I always make him call me when he gets in from the hunts. I'm a worrier, so I need to know that he's back at the house safe and sound. Saturday night, around 9:30, he calls and the first sentence out of his mouth is "We've got a bit of a situation". Seriously, my heart fluttered - I couldn't imagine what had happened, but my mind automatically started thinking that I was going to have to load Meg up and head out to the ranch to help...

Turns out that he had shot a HUGE buck, but couldn't find him. After I calmed down, I told him that not being able to find the buck wasn't a situation. He told me he was going to go back out to look for the buck. I made him promise me that he would call when he got back to the house - no matter how late it was.

About 1.5 hours later, he called with good news. He had located his buck. Jarrad was so excited and couldn't wait to get home to show his trophy to his girls.

Jarrad got home Sunday a little after lunch. He dropped the two pigs and the deer meat off at the processor and brought the deer home to take to the taxidermist.

San Antonio Part 2

Friday night, after Meg went swimming, Taylor, Ruth & Luke joined us for dinner. Meg and I wanted to see Luke and Dad wanted to use his new grill. Fajitas and wine were on the menu for the night.

I can't believe how much Luke has grown since the last time I saw him. He's so adorable and happy. Poor little guy has excema and was broken out while we were there, but is still the cutest little boy in the world.

Ruth is the only one smiling pretty and looking at the camera. I'm not sure what Taylor or Megan are doing.

SA Trip Part 1

Meg had a weekend off for soccer, so she and I decided to make a quick weekend trip to San Antonio. Things are definitely different now that Meg is in kindergarten and we can just take random 3-day weekend trips to visit Meme & Poppy.
I picked Meg up early from school on Friday and we got to SA just in time for a quick swim and dinner. (I didn't swim, only Meg was brave enough).

Brylie's 6th Birthday

Darla threw a fabulous birthday party for Brylie's 6th. Darla is so creative when it comes to the kiddos birthday parties.

This year, she set up arts and crafts at the park for Brylie's birthday guests. There were a handful arts stations for the kids to make "masterpieces". Thankfully, the weather held out and the party was perfect.

Grapefest 09

One weekend in September, Meg & I went to Grapefest with Nawnaw. It was beautiful day to walk main street in Grapevine. We stopped for a drink and corn dog about half way thru the street. It's not a day at Grapefest without a corn dog :)

As we were walking thru the streets, Meg noticed the children with painted faces...so, of course we had to stop to get hers done too.

***Meg getting a princess mask painted on her face***

***One eye down, one to go***

***It amazes me how the kids will sit so still while they're having their faces painted***

***a little dramatic flare***

***GLITTER, the finishing touch***

***beautiful***

After we Meg had her face painted, we headed over to the rides for one ride. I was so happy to have Nawnaw there with us. Meg wasn't tall enough to ride by herself, and I'm not sure I should be riding around in roller coasters yet (need to ask my back doctor).
Meg had an absolute blast on the roller coaster, not sure I can say the same thing for Nawnaw. But, she was a good sport and laughed the whole time.

I'm so behind!!!

We've had so much going on around here. On top of our busy schedules, I had to reformat my brand new laptop.

Isn't it wonderful? I'm so excited about it and love it already!

We've been to San Antonio, to a birthday party, to Grapefest, playing soccer, and had a visit from Meme and Poppy. There is so much I want to blog about and plan on doing it this week!!!

Stay tuned.
