And here is the rest of the story

The second post about the Jordan/Ramsey First Annual Family Vacation...

Saturday morning, after we all got up and out of bed, we had a quick breakfast, then started getting ready for the day. We packed lunches, coolers, and bags full of sunscreen, sunglasses, hats, and other things we'd need while we were on lake.

Poppy, Ruth, Taylor, Megan and I went to pick up the boat that we had rented for the entire day. We were able to pick it up at 10:00. Meg was so excited about her first boat ride. Of course, because I had made such a big deal about it, she didn't want me to take any pictures...but that didn't stop me. It's not the best picture (she's mad that I'm taking it) but it will have to do.

We picked up the boat and headed back to the dock to pick up the rest of the family and all of our "stuff". Our "stuff" included, a beach bag for each family, towels for each person, three coolers, a small soft cooler, and a few floaties. We definitely weighted down the boat. After loading everything up, we headed out for the day. By boat, it was about a 1 hour ride over to Hell's Gate. Possum Kingdom is such a gorgeous lake. The houses are amazing, so we didn't mind the ride. Plus, we were able to relax and soak up some sun on the way. We were all so excited to get to Hell's Gate. We were excited about dropping in our anchor and floating around all day. Imagine our surprise when we discover that our boat didn't have an anchor. Yep, you read right. We had driven an hour to get to Hell's Gate to hang out and float only to find out that we don't have an anchor.

I wasn't very happy, so I called on our radio back to the dock we rented the boat from and calmly told them that we didn't have an anchor. Much to my disappointment, they didn't have any boats or jet skis (they claimed this anyway) that they could bring up an anchor with. So, Kyle pulled the boat for a while to keep it from drifting into any other boats, but as you can imagine - that got tiring real quick. So, at least one of us stayed in the boat to drive circles around the others who were floating...not exactly what we had envisioned for our first day at Hell's Gate. All things considered, we still had an amazing time. And, I might mention that they gave us a discount after the bitch in me came out :)

Here are a few pictures of the happy families that went with us :)

The day turned out to be a great success, minus our anchor mishap. And, we knew that we needed to make sure we had an anchor on the boat when we picked it up Sunday. Live and learn.

Stay tuned for Sunday's adventures :)

Ooohhh...I love going to the lake! Despite the anchor mishap it looks like you had a lot of fun! And that's awesome you got a discount--sometimes you just have to let them know you aren't happy :)
