Ft. Worth Zoo

Meg, Nawnaw and I love going to the zoo.  We have zoo passes, so don’t feel like we have to spend all day there.  It’s great to get in, spend a few hours there, then get out. 

 

On Saturday, Meg and I picked Nawnaw up first thing and headed to the zoo for a few hours.  Saturday was supposed to be beautiful, but it was cloudy and cold.  We still had a great time. 

 

The animals were all hanging out in the windows.  I guess because it wasn’t very crowded. 

I think the animals were enjoying the weather because they were all out and about, running thru their habitats.  I love watching the giraffes run – they look like they’re running in slow motion.

This was the first time I’ve ever seen the white tiger up so close.  He was absolutely beautiful (and, wouldn’t you know that I didn’t take my good camera).  He was lounging near the window.  When Meg walked up, the tiger saw her, licked his lips, then “snapped” at her.  It scared her, but we all thought it was pretty funny.

We loved how empty the zoo was (probably because of the weather).  It allowed Meg to run around with out me having to yell at her to watch where she was going.  She would run about 15 yards ahead of us, then circle back.  With all the running, it was a fight to get her to keep her jacket on.   

On our way out, we waked thru the Flamingos.  This was the first time I had seen the Caribbean Flamingos.  Their coloring was amazing.  I could kick myself for not bringing my big camera.  These pictures don’t really do any justice.

Hotter than hell

Saturday, Meg and I met our good friends Laura & Lauren at the Ft. Worth Zoo for a hot (but fabulous) afternoon. The zoo wasn't very crowded probably because it was 100 degrees, but we had a great time. We saw most of the animals. We rode the train twice and the girls rode the carousel.

We love the Ft. Worth Zoo

Last Saturday, Megan and I met Nawnaw at the zoo for the day. It turned out to be a perfect day for visiting the zoo even though there was rain in the forecast. It didn't rain a drop at the zoo and I think the forecast really helped with the attendance. Meg, Nawnaw and I have zoo passes, so we figured if it rained or was to crowded we would just leave.

We met at the zoo around 11:00 and left around 2:30. I'm so glad we got the zoo passes this year. I don't feel like we have to see everything at each visit. Spending all day at the zoo with Meg can be a challenge because she starts to get tired of walking around and wants to be carried. She's to heavy for me to carry longer than five or ten minutes because of my surgery, so it's a constant battle.

We had a great time at the zoo and are looking forward to many more trips!!!

At the zoo

Last Thursday, Megan and I met Nawnaw at the zoo. We all received an annual zoo pass for Christmas this year, so decided it was a beautiful day to go to the zoo. I'm not sure what we were thinking, seeing as it was Spring Break, but it was still a great day. We stayed for about three and a half hours and didn't feel guilty about not seeing everything. After all, we have a zoo pass and can go any time we want.

Boo at the Zoo

On Saturday night, Megan and I met some friends at the Ft. Worth Zoo for...

The girls had a great time. The zoo was so crowded, but it was fun to see all the kids dressed up in their costumes. Meg is going to be Dorothy this year. I know I'm a little biased, but she looked so adorable! I will have to try to get a video of her on Friday saying "There's no place like home, there's no place like home".

I have to complain a little tho...

FIRST - The price! 12 bucks each, just to get in. yes, 12 bucks even for Meg. Toddlers are considered 2 and under and they are 4 bucks. So, if you brought your newborn and were expecting him to get in for free, you would have been very upset. Makes me real mad because regular admission is only 10.50 for adults

SECOND - No animals...the animals were put "up" at 6:30pm. The event was from 5:30 - 8pm.

THIRD - the cost of food at the zoo. Not only did it cost me 24 bucks to get in, but I spent 16 bucks on dinner (which consisted of nachos, mini corn dogs, a bag of chips and two drinks).

FOURTH - Parking! Five bucks for parking. Seriously, they can't just throw in parking?!?

But, with all the above complaints, seeing my daughter's face light up around every corner at the zoo all night - PRICELESS!!!
