Sweet & Sassy

For the wedding, I decided to take Megan to Sweet & Sassy for a mini spa/salon day. I got her the "Pampered Princess" spa package which includes shampoo, haircut, style out, mini-mani, mini-pedi, 2 nail arts, ring and a toe ring.
She had a blast. We did everything except the mini-mani because she was ready to go. She had been sitting still for about 1.5 hours, so I wasn't surprised that she didn't want to sit around for another 20 minutes for her mani.

Meg had a blast. We were actually back at the mall where this store is on Sunday and she wanted to get her hair done again. I had to explain to her that it's only on special occasions. She seemed OK with that answer.

All before ten o'clock in the morning!

Friday night, we had rehearsal dinner for Nick & Michelle (as I mentioned before). All night, Meg kept telling everyone that her ears hurt. Not inside her ears...her actual ears. It wasn't like she just complained once, it was numerous times. I didn't think much about it that night. We got home from rehearsal and Meg went to bed around 9:30.

I stayed up watching TV in the living room. Around 11:45, I heard her bedroom door open. Sure enough, she walks out and is crying. When I asked her what was wrong, she told me "I don't know". I told her that I couldn't help her if she didn't tell me what was wrong. She still didn't know. So, I told her that she could lay with me on the couch for a while. As soon as she was laying down, she was out.

I went to bed around 12:45. As soon as I was crawling in bed, I heard a few whimpers from the living room (I decided to leave her on the couch instead of moving her to her bed). By the time I got out to the living room, she was sleeping again.

Around 1:30, she woke up crying again. This time I decided to let her into our bed with us. It was so strange. She wasn't running a fever and didn't feel bad...but, looking back, she was super sensitive on Friday. Every little thing would send her into a whine fest. She slept from about 1:30 to 4:30 before she woke up again. She was up for about 5 minutes before she was asleep again.

When we woke up on Saturday morning, I knew I had to take her to the doctor. I didn't want to, but I had a feeling that she was developing an ear infection. Seeing as she was supposed to be a flower girl in N&M's wedding that evening, I wanted to make sure everything was OK.

Turns out, I wasn't completely wrong about the ear infection. She had a small ear infection developing in her right ear...the complete shocker was that Meg had Strep Throat. Yes, STREP THROAT - again. So, I immediately thought about how heart broken she was going to be if we weren't able to go to the wedding...luckily, the doctor said that it was OK if she went, but that she couldn't kiss anyone or let anyone drink after her.

After her appointment, we grabbed a quick bite to eat, then headed to Sweet & Sassy...more to come.

Rehearsal Dinner

Last Friday night, we had rehearsal and rehearsal dinner for Michelle & Nick's wedding. Meg and Jarrad were both in the wedding.

Meg did so well, she listened and didn't spend too much time running around like a crazy child. Although, she did have her moments ;)

After the quick rehearsal, we headed to Mercado for rehearsal dinner. Jarrad & I had our rehearsal dinner at Mercado, so it brought back wonderful memories. While we were there, Michelle & Nick handed out the wedding party gifts. Jarrad got a bottle of scotch (can't go wrong with that) and Meg...

***...she got a Coach purse***
Stacy & I were both watching Meg when she opened her gift. As soon as she saw it, she said "A Coach purse". I know it's probably not a good sign that my daughter knew that it was a Coach as soon as she opened it...she's only 4. The teenage years are going to be brutal :)

Swimming lessons

We are in swimming lessons again this summer with the gang. Meg loves swimming and has really become an awesome swimmer this summer. She makes me so proud.

There are four kids (including Meg) in her class. They've developed quite a special bond. It's two boys (Aaron & Ben) and two girls (Lauren & Meg). They were all born in the summer of 2004, so they're very close in age. Meg is the youngest of the bunch, but they will all start kindergarten this fall.

The part you've been waiting for...

I couldn't be more proud of Megan this weekend. While we were on vacation, we asked her if she'd like to learn how to water ski. I was surprised when she said yes. She's never seen anyone water ski before, so I'm not sure she knew exactly what to expect.

***Meg right before her skiing lesson***

We got Meg ready for her lesson and put her and poppy in the lake behind the boat. My dad has taught a ton of kids how to water ski. He is so amazing when he's teaching kids to ski. His patience is amazing.

Once he got Meg into the water, he put her on his left side (the side he has always taught from) and helped her get into her water skis. Then he talked to her a little bit, then told Jarrad to start towing them.

On her very first try she popped right out and was skiing all by herself. It was so amazing to watch. It was so natural for her. She was so comfortable, that she was even holding on with one hand and waving to other boats as they drove by.

Family vacation...lots of pictures!

We had our second annual family vacation with my parents, brothers, sisters-in-law and nephew this past weekend at Possum Kingdom. I think we all had a great time. I know I did :)

Jarrad and I drove out to PK on Wednesday night. We got to the house, unpacked and relaxed. The next morning, Jarrad and I got up early to go out on the lake. This year, we borrowed Nick's Moomba wake board boat. Jarrad and I spent a few hours out on the lake just the two of us before everyone started showing up.

Kyle & Sheryl were the first to arrive. As soon as they got there and unpacked, we headed out in the boat again for a quick swim and boat ride. A few hours later, Meme, Poppy & Megan arrived...and, after unloading we went back out again.

Taylor, Ruth & Luke arrived on Friday mid-day. We were so excited to have everyone there.

Saturday, we rented a pontoon boat and headed to Hell's Gate for most of the day. Jarrad and Kyle went ahead of us in Nick's boat and found us a good "spot" to drop anchor for the day. Meme, Poppy, Meg, Sheryl and I followed behind in the pontoon boat. Once we finally arrived at Hell's Gate, we dropped anchor and floated around for a few hours. It was such a beautiful day. The only thing missing was Taylor, Ruth & Luke. But, seeing as Luke is only about 10 weeks old, they stayed back at the house.

While we were there, Meg did something that made me so proud!!! Stay tuned for more details!

On Sunday, we rented a jet ski for a few hours. Meme stayed at the house with Luke so Taylor and Ruthie could come out with us. We went out for about four hours and had a blast. I only took a few pictures. I could kick myself for not taking more...it's so not like me to take so few pictures!!!
